Pulau Langkawi Trip - Day 2 & 3

Early morning on 2nd day, we went to the meet point at Underwater World to meet with our island tour guide to have our boat ride to small islands around Pulau Langkawi. The islands that we visited were Pulau Dayang Bunting and Pulau Beras Basah, besides that we also stopped at the sea near Pulau Singa Besar, known for its wildlife sanctuary to see eagles.

This was my little cousins first time ride on speedboat, they were very excited and felt scare too. Before we head out to sea, we all wore life jacket for safety. Then, we head out to our island trip.

Boat Ride to Islands

The first island we were visiting was Pulau Dayang Bunting. The island gets its name from a legend that surrounds the freshwater lake, Tasik Dayang Bunting (Lake of the Pregnant Maiden) the largest lake in Langkawi and the water in the lake was said that it possess magical powers that will enable barren women to bear a child if they drink water from the lake. Before reached Pulau Dayang Bunting, we also saw a mountain which looked like a pregnant maiden lying down there.

At Pulau Dayang Bunting, we were allowed to stay there for an hour to walk around. At the jetty, there were a lot of monkeys waiting there to see which visitor bring plastic bag along, then they will run toward that visitor to take away the plastic bag, even though there was no food inside the plastic bag. So, remember do not bring any plastic bag to Pulau Dayang Bunting when you visit there.

At Pulau Dayang Bunting, there was a lake in the middle of island named Lake of the Pregnant Maiden. We have to climb stair over a hill to reach the lake. Before I see the lake, I could not imaging how the lake look like. When I reach the top of the small hill and look down to the lake, it was very beautiful. It looked like a lot of crystals were floating on the water when the sunlight reflect on the water. Surround the lake was green forests and the water was dark green in colour and very deep until cannot see the bottom of the lake and really could enjoy the nature. They have built pontoon for visitors to let visitors to stand. They also prepared some paddle boats for visitors to rent it. Luckily we went there early, after an hour, there were a lot of visitors reached the lake, on that time we really could not enjoy the sound of nature because full of people voice. Then, we left the lake and heading to jetty to ride on the boat to next stop.

After Pulau Dayang Bunting, we headed to the sea near Pulau Singa Besar to see eagles flying around the sea to catch fishes. This was my first time to see the eagle in this close distance. The eagles were very beautiful and I hope no one will destroy their habitat. We stopped there around 15 minutes then we headed to other island, Pulau Beras Basah.

Pulau Beras Basah (Island of Wet Rice) was the beach with white sand and clear water. A lot of visitors were there playing at the beach and swimming. My cousins were very happy to see the sea. My uncles and my sisters looked after them at the beach and I was busy taking photos. After an hour, we left the island and headed back to Langkawi mainland.

Around 12pm, we reached Langkawi mainland. Then we went to have a simple lunch before went to Underwater World Langkawi, one of the largest marine and fresh water aquaria in South East Asia. For our lunch, we had fried rice, fried flat noodle, vegetables and BBQ Stuffed Chicken Wings at a restaurant. Then we headed to Underwater World. My sister went to bought tickets before enter into the Underwater World. Too sad that one part of the Underwater World was closed down for renovation due to the incident that happened few months ago, someone have poisoned the fishes in the aquaria cause a lots of big fishes died. So, this time we did not see much fishes in the aquaria.

After we out from the Underwater World, we went to the beach behind it, Pantai Cenang to continue our play at the beach after Pulau Beras Basah.

My uncle caught some hermit crabs to let my cousins to look at it. We built a sand castle for the hermit crabs. Later on, we let them back to the sea.

Around 5.30pm, we left Pantai Cenang and went to Pantai Pasir Hitam (Black Sand Beach). The journey took us almost 1 hour to reach. The sand at Pantai Pasir Hitam was totally black in colour, just like the sand has been burnt for century. Too bad the sand that we saw was not totally black, it was the mixture of black sand and normal sand. My youngest sister told me that the time she visited the beach, the sand was totally black, did not mixed with other sand at all. There were some fishermen there catching fishes. My aunt asked them whether they sell the fishes and prawns, their answer were yes. So, we decided that our dinner will be the seafood from Pantai Pasir Hitam. We bought some fresh fishes and prawns with a cheap price. Then we headed back to out apartment to cook our dinner.

Around 8pm, we reached our apartment. My sister brought my cousins to swimming pool to swim. I helped my aunt to prepare dinner. In our dinner, we have chicken sausages for children, fresh fried fishes, instant fried noodles, and fresh prawn soup. All of us were very happy with the dinner.

On 3rd day morning, my cousins went to swimming pool to play water again. We started to pack our bag to get ready to leave Pulau Langkawi. Around 12pm, we check-out from the apartment and headed to jetty. After we handed the car back to car rental company and bought the ferry tickets, we went to free-duty chocolate shop to buy some chocolates back to Selangor as a gift. We took a ride of 1pm ferry back to Kuala Perlis. So, "GOOD BYE, LANGKAWI! AND I WILL BE BACK!"

Around 2pm, we reached Kuala Perlis and took our cars from the parking lot, then headed back to Selangor. Around 10pm, we reached home with happy memories and very tired body. So, this was the end of my Pulau Langkawi trip.
