Bali Trip - Day 1

In the morning of 31st July 2008, we took 10:55am flight from LCCT to Denpasar, Bali. I was very excited with the trip. At 1:55pm, we reached Ngurah Rai Airport, Bali. The airport was beside the beach, when the plane landing, we could see the beautiful view. After we came out from custom gate, we looked for our driver - Mr. Nengah Polos who I searched from Internet (for those who want to refer to this driver, please go to http://www.bali-day-trip.com/).

After we met with our driver, we headed to our hotel - Matahari Bungalow which located at Jalan Legian, near Kuta to check-in.

On the way to Kuta

Before we reached the hotel, we stopped at Nasi Bali Restaurant and Bar at Jalan Legian to have our lunch. The foods there were just okay and the prices were not very cheap due to it was the restaurant attached with a hotel. We quickly finished our lunch so that we did not waste our time.

Beer - Bali Hai (Rp. 15,000)

Ice Coffee (Rp. 22,000)

A Pot of Tea (Rp. 18,000)

Nasi Goreng Special (Rp. 35,000)

Mie Goreng Special (Rp. 35,000)

Ayam Goreng Menthe (Rp. 35,000)

Pepes Ikan (Rp. 35,000)

After lunch, we went to check-in at the hotel. We left our luggage in the room and took a short bath. Then we met with our driver and headed to Tanah Lot to see sunset.

Jalan Legian

Way To Tanat Lot

Around 4pm, we reached Tanah Lot. The entrance fee was Rp 10,000/ person plus Rp. 5000 parking fee. The driver brought us to one of the cliff which was the best spot to view the temple. Before that, we saw some Balinese having their ceremony at a temple beside Temple Tanah Lot. So, we went to take a look. (Reminder: Do not enter the holy temple and do not stand in front of the prayers, just stand outside to take a look.)

A small temple beside Pura Tanah Lot

Tanah Lot was such a beautiful place to see. During daytime, the high tide of sea will separate the temple from mainland and during low tide at evening, we can walk to the temple. During high tide, the view of Temple Tanah Lot will give us a different feeling. But too bad the time we went there, its already low tide and there were a lot of tourists standing near the temple, so we did not go near the temple. And the sunset on that day was not really beautiful due to the clouds on the sky blocking the sun half way. Because I thought I could see the high tide change to low tide at Temple Tanah Lot. <( T^T )> * Wrong calculation...*

Sunset with Wave crashed on the rock

After visited Temple Tanah Lot, we went back to hotel because the sky already dark. The driver dropped us at our hotel and went back home. We went back to room to take a shower and get ready to have our dinner at Bamboo Corner located at Poppies Lane I, which is highly recommended by other travelers. From our hotel to Poppies Lane I, it took around 15 minutes to be there, and for those who never been to the lane, please look for the sigh board with Poppies Cottage on top of the main road because the road was like a small corridor between shops. Anyone can miss the road. But once you go inside, you will surprise by shops, restaurants and budget inns and beware of motorcycles in and out from the lane especially after 9pm. This was the most scary part when walking on the lane, you have to give way to motorcycles.

When we at Bamboo Corner, we were surprise with the price at the restaurant because the price for the foods were very cheap and foods were delicious, especially the fruit juice, they were totally pure fruit juice, did not mixed with ice to water. My colleague recommended Avocado juice but too bad it was not Avocado season, its season is December, so I was not able to taste it.

Vegetarian Spring rolls (Rp. 7,000)

Orange Juice (Rp. 4,000)

Nasi Goreng Ayam (Rp. 8,000)

Rice with Tempura Prawn in Sweet & Sour Source (Rp. 15,000)

Carrot Juice (Rp. 5,000)

After dinner, we walked along Jalan Legian which is one of the party road at night because there were a lots of bars along the road. For those who like night life, Kuta and Legian was the places that should stay in. Around 10pm, my uncle, my brother-in-law and I went to have massage at one of the massage shop near our hotel - The Natural Massage and Reflexology. I had Foot Massage with Cream + Oil for 1 hour (Rp. 60,000) and my uncle and brother-in-law had Balinese Full Body Massage with Aromatherapy for one and the half hours (Rp. 110,000/person). After foot massage, they still having massage on my back, hand and head. I felt refresh after the massage

Then we went to eat supper at one of the local hawker shop. We ordered Nasi Goreng Seafood (Rp. 10,000) and Nasi Goreng Ayam (Rp. 10,000). Then we went back to hotel to rest. So, this was the end of the first day in Bali.
